The Ontario Provincial Police-led Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad has charged an inmate at Millhaven Institution in Kingston following a serious assault at the facility.
Correctional Service of Canada officials contacted the Penitentiary Squad on January 26, 2024 at approximately 9:30 a.m. after an inmate was violently assaulted. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of serious injuries caused by an edged weapon.
Cameron Alamina, age 24, has been arrested and charged with:
- Aggravated assault
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Carrying a concealed weapon
Alamina was doing time at Millhaven after shooting two men and attacking another with a machete in separate incidents in Sudbury in 2020.
The accused remains in federal custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on February 29, 2024.
