The House of Commons resumed sitting today (Monday) and Bay of Quinte riding Conservative MP Ryan Williams stressed his priorities as debate begins on the Liberal government’s Fall Economic Statement.
Williams says many people in his riding want four priority issues addressed, those being the carbon tax, the housing shortage, the federal budget deficit and crime rates.
These are the issues also stressed by Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre.
He says the carbon tax has only served to make paying bills more difficult for many residents in Bay of Quinte.
And Williams says the mayors of Belleville, Quinte West and Prince Edward County told him there was a desperate need for affordable housing in their communities.
On crime, the local MP wants legislative changes to force judges to keep repeat or violent offenders in jail instead of granting them bail on the same day they’re arrested.
Williams will also continue to push the government to increase competition to lower cell phone bills in the current sitting.
