Despite more rain in the forecast, Lower Trent Conservation has cancelled its Flood Watch Statement for the Trent River though a Water Safety Statement remains.
Officials say average flows still exist along the Trent River System, but with the weather conditions becoming warmer and reduced winds, the accumulation of frazil ice is predicted to dissipate and water levels should return to average levels.
Some nuisance flooding is still possible in low-lying areas due to forecasted rainfall, frozen ground conditions and warmer temperatures but widespread flooding is not anticipated.
Lower Trent Conservation continues to advise parents and caregivers to keep children and pets away from all waterways as water currents are strong and temperatures are dangerously cold this time of year.
