Freezing rain is falling across the Quinte region Wednesday afternoon.
The area remains under a freezing rain warning.
Environment Canada says there is a potential for ice build-up due to several hours of freezing rain beginning this afternoon and ending later this evening.
Patchy freezing drizzle affected much of the area through the morning.
Total ice accretion of 2-5 mm is possible.
For areas closer to Lake Ontario, freezing rain may not be as prolonged, as temperatures may rise above the freezing mark sooner.
Roads and sidewalks will be slippery. Motorists and pedestrians should proceed with caution.
