The provincial Minister of Health, Sylvia Jones, was impressed by a delegation representing the entire Quinte region pushing for improved healthcare at the Rural Ontario Municipal Association Conference in Toronto Tuesday.
Belleville councillor Sean Kelly says political representatives from Hastings County, Belleville, Quinte West, and Prince Edward County appeared together in a meeting with the Minister.
However, Kelly says what made the delegation’s presentation stand out was the expertise and
passion displayed by Loyalist College President Mark Kirkpatrick and Quinte Health President Stacey Daub who’s in “the trenches every day.”

” … has a real understanding of what the needs are, I think, of our region and Loyalist College … what new programs could be offered in health care and how they can be a partner in addressing the need for more PSWs, RNs, more RPNs. It’s a win-win.”
The delegation asked for more money to hire health care professionals and more medical services such as home care in the community. The Minister made no commitments.
