Quinte Conservation is updating the floodplain maps along Consecon Lake to reflect changes in the watershed over the past four decades.
Current land use and climate data, as well as improved technology, will be used to update the 1981 mapping.
The PIC will be held Monday, February 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Consecon United Church (244 Mill Street, Consecon).
If you would like to share your questions ahead of the event, please email csinclair@quinteconservation.ca.
Updates to floodplain mapping can result in:
A reduction in effort, cost and time for development application review in flood prone areas without accurate mapping.
A reduction in studies a proponent is required to undertake before development.
Increased accuracy of regulatory flood lines.
Increased accuracy of flood lines for different flood events, which can be used to identify flood prone properties and municipal infrastructure for notification, inspection and/or evacuation during a flood.
Models that can be used for other studies.
Data that can be used to support municipal road and sewer improvement projects, natural heritage mapping for municipal plans and more.
Those with property in the areas outlined in the FHIMP projects are invited to attend a PIC for more information and to provide feedback.
