It appears a crusade for a nickname change for Nicholson does not have the support of the public.
Last week we broke a story about the Catholic high school looking to change their team nickname from Crusaders.
Officials say they want something more aligned with the school’s values.
Quinte News posted an unofficial survey to social media followers to gauge whether or not the nickname should be changed.
As of 8:00 a.m. Monday morning (Jan 22), more than 98.5% of respondents did not want the name changed.
Costs incurred for a branding could include flooring or matting in the gym, team jerseys, the mascot, new graphic design, new colours, along with web, social media, and electronic rebranding.
In the same board, a school in Kingston, Holy Cross also has the Crusaders nickname.
The crusades were a series of military expeditions by Europeans to the Holy Land in the 11th, 12th, and 13th centuries.
Below was an e-mail from the school to a parent.
