The Laval Rocket claimed the second of back-to-back victories in their two-game series with the Belleville Senators, defeating the Senators 3-2 at CAA Arena on Saturday night.
Lassi Thomson and Matthew Highmore scored for the Sens.
The first period kicked off with a bang, as Belleville’s Zack Ostapchuk dropped the gloves with the Rocket’s Logan Mailloux within the first 30 seconds of the game. Five minutes later another fight broke out on the ice, but between the fights the Senators slipped a first goal into the Rocket’s net.
During the second frame, the Sens would pick up another goal, but the Rocket would grab two to take a tied score into the final period. In the third, the Rocket scored a final goal to take the lead, and the win.
Belleville Sens head coach Dave Bell said the first period went well, but the team slipped in the second and third.
“It gets frustrating because when you play to the structure and to our identity, we’re really good and we got two goals the way we get goals. But then we deviate from that and try to play out of our system and we get burned,” said Bell.
The Sens are on the road again on Wednesday, to face the Milwaukee Admirals.
