A man found guilty of killing his former wife in Quinte West has died in prison.
Correctional Service Canada says Stephen Beszterczey died at Bath Institution over the weekend.
He was serving life in prison, related to a 2012 murder investigation.
Forty-eight-year-old Carolin Beszterczey, his estranged wife, was found dead at her home in Quinte West in September 2012.
Carolin Beszterczey, a former resident of Trent Hills, moved to Quinte West and became a city employee.
She left her husband and was later killed.
Stephen Beszterczey was arrested by OPP near North Bay the following day and was charged with theft of a vehicle.
In December 2012, the then 36-year-old was charged with murder.
The defence in the trial attempted to have Beszterczey found not guilty, due to alleged mental health issues.
He was convicted and sentenced to life in prison in Belleville court in 2015.
The police and coroner have been notified of Stephen Beszterczey’s death at the prison, east of Napanee.
