There was a sizeable contraband seizure at Joyceville Institution this week.
In a release, the Correctional Service of Canada reported $81,000 worth of contraband and unauthorized items was seized on Monday from the Kingston area multi-security federal institution.
Seized items include tobacco, marijuana, crystal methamphetamine, heroin and ecstasy.
CSC uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions including ion scanners and detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates, and visitors.
It also works in partnership with police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband or unauthorized items into correctional institutions.
The release did not state if any charges have been laid in connection with the seizure.
