Prince Edward County council is preparing to revisit a previous decision to end a wage subsidy for ride sharing company Uride.
Late in 2023, council decided to end a $50,000 wage subsidy granted to Uride, to allow the company to pay drivers a living wage in the community. Uride benefitted from the subsidy for its first two years of operation in the community.
Now, Councillor John Hirsch is putting forward a motion to reconsider ending the subsidy, alongside a report from municipal staff advising that a smaller subsidy be established.
The motion will come before council during Tuesday’s upcoming council session.
