One person has been arrested following a domestic dispute in the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen.
On January 1, 2024, just prior to 8 p.m., members of the Peterborough County OPP received a call reporting a domestic disturbance.
The caller advised that their ex-partner had attended their residence and when the complainant refused to open the door, the accused kicked in a basement window.
The complainant at that point contacted the OPP.
Peterborough County OPP officers attended and spoke with the complainant.
Officers were advised that the accused ran away once advised that the police were being called.
While speaking with the police, a friend of the complainant received a social media message stating that they could see police at the residence.
The officers helped to ensure the complainant’s residence was secure prior to leaving.
The accused was located a short distance from the residence and was arrested.
As a result, a 29-year-old male of Peterborough, ON., was arrested and charged with mischief.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough at a later date.
