The following was submitted by the Lennox & Addington OPP.
Officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP have charged a male with impaired driving thanks to an alert citizen.
On December 29, 2023, shortly after 11 a.m., L&A OPP was dispatched to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on County Road 41 just south of Selby. An alert member of the public noticed a vehicle that was driving erratically and called police. The vehicle drove off the roadway hitting a sign. Police located the vehicle and spoke to the lone male driver. The driver was subsequently arrested without incident.
As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP have charged Mathew Britnell, age 25, of Tamworth, Ontario, with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on January 30, 2024. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
