Procter & Gamble in Belleville has made a significant donation to United Way Hastings & Prince Edward.
United Way was presented with a cheque for $220,000 on Monday.
“Obviously, every bit helps. We always rely on Procter & Gamble. They’re in a league of their own and they’ve shown it again this year,” Campaign Chair Dan McCullough tells media.
“So it’s an amazing, amazing number and we’re really excited for that donation this year.”
The $220,000 raised this year is an increase from the $180,000 raised last year by P&G.
Site HR Lead for P&G in Belleville, Patty Malloy, went over how the company raises funds.
“So as we do every year, we have product sales, so we get the opportunity to get access to some of the P&G products that we make around the world. We get it here. We sell it to our employees. All of those funds go into this plus we do silent auctions throughout the year for various different little things that we have,” Malloy tells media.
“We have parking lot sales, so people can actually bid to have a very close parking spot to the plant. We did a family day this year. We raised some money during our dunk tank when people got the opportunity to throw some baseballs at some of the site league team and dunk them in the water. And then of course we do our campaign every year, which we really push throughout the whole year with lots of communication.“
The donation goes towards the United Way’s campaign goal of $2.2 million for 2023.
United Way Hastings & Prince Edward says an update on the total raised so far should come at the end of the week as they calculate numbers.
