We have more information on the loud siren sound that could be heard in central Belleville overnight Saturday.
The siren’s wail, which sounded at regular intervals, came from the Crate Marine property near the Ramada Inn.
Belleville’s fire department says the siren was activated by motion sensors.
A Crate Marine employee tells Quinte News the sensors are installed on fences and set to detect larger objects such as people, not dogs, trees, or wind-blown trash.
The employee says the property has become popular with homeless people looking for a place to shelter.
