The Cleveland Monsters slipped past the Belleville Senators 2-1 on Friday night.
Angus Crookshank scored for the Senators.
Both teams were deadlocked in a scoreless first frame, with the game’s first goal coming in the second when the Monsters slipped a shot past the Sens’ goaltender. The Monsters went on to grab an empty net goal late in the third, before the Senators got on the board with their only goal late in the third period.
The Senators made 40 shots on net over the game, almost doubling the Monsters’ 26, but were blocked by the Monsters’ goalkeeper.
Belleville Senators head coach David Bell was happy with his team’s effort, despite the loss.
“I’ll accept that effort. The same result as last night at the end of the day, but there’s good and bad ways to lose,” said Bell. “I thought the guys played the full 60, they never gave up.”
The Sens are back in action on Thursday against the Scranton Penguins.
