An inmate at Collins Bay Correctional Facility has been charged after an assault on a corrections officer.
The assault took place on Wednesday, just after 1 p.m. The officer was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
Josias Gomez-Moreira, age 31, was charged with:
- Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer With a Weapon
- Assault a Peace Officer With a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
The accused remains in custody, and has a court date scheduled for December 14 in Kingston.
