On December 12, 2023 at approximately 7:15 p.m., members of the Northumberland OPP arrested an individual on the strength of a warrant with respect to intimate partner violence occurrences that occurred between October 9 and October 23, 2023.
A 37-year-old male from Port Hope was held to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on the following charges:
- Assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle – two counts
- Assault – spousal – two counts
- Mischief – domestic
- Fail to comply with undertaking – two counts
- Fail to comply with release order – other than to attend court – two counts
- Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence
- Unlawfully in dwelling house
- Attempt – failure to comply to comply with undertaking
- Fail to attend court after having appeared – two counts
- Criminal Harassment – beset and watch complainant
