Egor Sokolov (5th) scored 3:45 into the first period and the Belleville Senators never looked back as they defeated the hometown Laval Rocket 5-2.
Belleville scored two unanswered goals in each of the first and second periods and led 5-0 before Laval finally answered in the third.
Garrett Pilon scored twice (6th & 7th) and rookie defenceman Tyler Kleven notched his first as a professional. His goal proved to be the game winner.
Kleven says Belleville’s fast start was the key.
Lassi Thomson (3rd) rounded out the scoring while Kevin Mandolese turned away 28 shots.
Belleville improves to 9-8-1-2 for 21 points, fifth in the American Hockey League’s North Division.
The B-Sens host the Grand Rapids Griffins Friday and Saturday at 7:05 at the CAA Arena.
