Longtime Chief of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte R. Don Maracle will return as head of Band Council on the Tyendinaga Territory.
Maracle easily won with 809 votes to challenger Andrew Miracle’s 66.
A new larger council was elected Saturday with eight people running for six council positions.
Leading the polls was Lynda Leween with 667 votes followed closely by incumbent Chris Maracle and his 659 votes.
Rounding out Band Council in order of finish top to bottom were Chris Brant, Erin Leigh Ferrante, Kurtis Brant,
and Ogwari Brant.
Finishing out of the running were Lily (Lou) Maracle and Ainsley Leween.
