Belleville police responded to 85 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on November 30, 2023 to 5 a.m. on December 1, 2023.
Female assaulted, male arrested:
On November 30, 2023 at approximately 1:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a male who had punched a female and fled the area in the downtown core. Police located the victim who suffered minor injuries. A local business had a video of the incident which was reviewed by police. The assault is captured on video surveillance and the suspect is known to police. Police searched the area for the suspect with negative results. A warrant for the arrest of the male is being sought for one count of assault.
Disturbance leads to the arrest of an intoxicated male:
On November 30, 2023 at approximately 7:38 p.m., police were called to an east end location for a report of a disturbance. Once police arrived on scene they were informed that a previously evicted tenant returned to the property and broke a window. The male was quickly located and found to be intoxicated due to the consumption of several alcoholic beverages. The owner of the home did not wish to have charges laid against the suspect. The suspect was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. The 56-year-old Belleville man was later released once deemed able to care for himself and not be a threat to others.
RIDE Program:
On November 30, 2023, members of the Belleville Police Service conducted a RIDE Program at numerous locations throughout the city. Officers checked 240 vehicles throughout the RIDE Program. No impaired drivers were located and no charges were laid.
