Not Alone Team Quinte’s Christmas Program is underway.
The program helps to fill a stocking for those that are homeless as well as to provide underprivileged children with Christmas gifts this year.
Debbie Lee with Not Alone Team Quinte says demand has been high this year with over 100 applications within a few minutes of launching.
She says right now, the program is looking for people to foster children.
“I would say adopt a child if they’re able to adopt a child,” Lee said when asked what is needed in the program right now.
“(There’s) a list of all their wants on there, if they’re looking to donate items, Pokémon cards, things like that are number ones on the list.”
Lee says the majority of kids start at age 12.
“So we go right to the age of 17, it’s kids that are in school,” Lee says.
“We asked for report cards, we asked for ID and we asked for a source of income. So everybody that’s on our list has qualified.”
She says Not Alone Team Quinte is trying to help alleviate some of the pressures that other community organizations are facing.
