The Manatoba Moose slipped past the Belleville Senators 3-2 on Friday night.
Jiri Smejkal scored twice for the Senators in his first multi-goal game in the AHL.
Neither team would score in a deadlocked first period before the Moose claimed the first of the night in the second period. The Sens would come back with two goals of their own in the second, but the Moose would take the lead back with two goals in the third period to claim the win.
Belleville Sens alternate captain Josh Currie said their late game play was good, but the team needs to put in that kind of play for the whole 60 minutes.
“It’s a mental game, but you just gotta keep working and grinding through the mud, and things are going to start to go our way. We’ve got to be persistent, keep doing the things that make us successful and not get frustrated.”
The Sens are back in action on Saturday night, hosting the Leigh Valley Phantoms at CAA Arena.
