Ontario has announced it will be supporting an investment from Dr.’s Choice Optical Lab in the Quinte West area.
The lab is making an investment of $2,250,560 to increase its production capacity via new machinery and automation.
In an announcement from Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith on Friday, it was announced that the province would contribute $337,500 through the Eastern Ontario Development Fund.
Dr.’s Choice Optical Lab produces private label digital progressive lenses, anti-reflection coatings and has introduced automated processes for cutting, coating, and edging lenses.
In 2022, the company purchased a new and larger production facility at 37 Gotha St. in Trenton as part of its expansion project.
According to a press release, the facility will improve the quality and delivery of the lenses and coatings produced by Dr’s Choice.
They say once expansion is complete the company will increase its workforce from 12 to 18 and serve optometrists, opticians, and online retailers both provincially within Ontario, and across Canada.
