Officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County OPP have charged a male with impaired driving thanks to an alert citizen.
On November 11, 2023 at approximately 10:55 p.m., L&A OPP were dispatched regarding a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver at the Napanee Falls parking lot. An alert member of the public noticed a male drinking in the parking lot and threw a bunch of beer cans out. Police located the vehicle and stopped it on Thomas and 4th streets in Napanee. The driver was subsequently arrested without incident.
As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP have charged Kevin Goodberry, age 51, of Greater Napanee, Ontario, with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on November 28, 2023. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days
Impaired driving is the #1 cause of criminal death in Canada and, yet, every impaired driving crash is preventable. By calling 911 and reporting suspected impaired drivers to police, all Canadians can play a role in keeping roads, trails and waterways safe and in reducing impaired driving crashes, deaths and injuries.
