It’s something we haven’t really encountered in a while – freezing rain.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement noting that an approaching low pressure system may result in freezing rain late this afternoon and into this evening.
Light ice build-up is possible on some surfaces especially in areas over higher terrain and elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses.
Meteorologist Kevin Williams’ forecast also has the possibility of a couple of centimetres of snow tonight as the low drops to -1.
Environment Canada says the temperature is expected to rise to 6 degrees by morning.
