Hastings County council will be asked to approve around $2.6 million in grants to community partner agencies for next year at its meeting Wednesday.
Recommended for the largest grant will be the Grace Inn homeless shelter in Belleville. If approved it will receive just over $1 million in provincial financial support.
The province would also help pay for a daytime drop-in centre with support services at Bridge Street United Church in Belleville serving the vulnerable and homeless population. That grant would total $750,000.
Smaller grants would go to several groups including rural transit organizations, Three Oaks, and the Community Development Council.
Twenty-two applications out of a total of 32 were approved for financial support.
See complete details below.
Community and Human Services annually allocates community partner grants through both the provincially-funded Homelessness Prevention Program (HPP) and the 100% municipally-funded children and family poverty reduction Community Grants (SAR).
In recent years, Hastings County has seen a significant increase in demand from community partners for funding.
