The Trenton Golden Hawks slipped past the Markham Royals 5-4 in overtime on Friday night.
Gianni DiVita, Corbin Roach, Barret Joynt, and Adam O’Marra scored for the Golden Hawks.
The Golden Hawks opened scoring late in the first period with back-to-back unanswered goals. During the second period, the Golden Hawks grabbed two more goals, but the Royals began their catch-up with three of their own, narrowing the gap between them and the leading Golden Hawks before going into the third. Halfway through the third frame, the Royals grabbed a final goal, tying the score. With neither team able to break the tie, the game moved into overtime, where after just a minute of play Adam O’Marra broke the tie with the game-winning goal for the Golden Hawks.
The Golden Hawks will host the Haliburton Huskies on Sunday.
