The Wellington Dukes edged the St. Michaels Buzzers 5-4 in double overtime on Friday night in front of over 500 fans at the Duke Dome.
Connor Hunt, Cory Jewitt, Panayioti Efraimidis, Ethan Quick, and Sacha Trudel scored for the Dukes.
The Buzzers opened up scoring early in the first period, before the Dukes came back to even it out. The Buzzers took a second goal late in the first to get their lead back going into the second frame. The second frame saw the Dukes tie the game again, only for another late-frame goal by the Buzzers to put them back in the lead. The Dukes came back hard in the second half of the third period, taking two goals and the lead, only for the Buzzers to tie the game again with less than a minute on the clock and force the game into overtime.
After a scoreless first overtime, the Dukes got the game winner in just under five minutes of double overtime, winning the game.
The Dukes travel on Sunday, to face the Toronto Jr. Canadiens.
