The Belleville Senators’ top scoring forward from last season has rejoined the American Hockey League club.
Egor Sokolov returns for his 4th season with Belleville after clearing NHL waivers on Wednesday.
Also clearing waivers are returning defenceman Jacob Bernard-Docker and Jacob Larsson.
The 23-year-old Sokolov established a franchise scoring record and games played mark last season with with 59 points (21 goals, 38 assists) in 70 games.
Veteran forward Matthew Highmore went unclaimed on the waiver wire and will make his Belleville debut this season.
The 27-year-old Highmore joins the Senators ahead of his seventh pro season, spending the majority of last season with the AHL Springfield Thunderbirds and registering 61 points (19 goals, 42 assists) in 68 games.
The additions bring the current Belleville Sens Training Camp Roster up to 26 players, including 13 forwards, 10 defencemen and three goaltenders.
The B-Sens will play two exhibition games this weekend. They’re in Toronto Friday night to face the Marlies then in Laval on Sunday to meet the Rocket.
Belleville opens the new AHL season on October 14 in Hershey against the Calder Cup-winning Bears.
Their home opener is Saturday October 21 when they host Laval.
