A permanent repair of the Trenton Water Service water main is expected to begin on Wednesday.
According to the City of Quinte West in a release, a flexible Primus Line liner is being placed inside the existing water main through an open section of the pipe.
The city says this option will maintain water service to Trenton water service customers for the duration of the repair work.
It is said there will be little to no impact on traffic in the surrounding area.
The estimated cost of the permanent repair is $755,000 with the total cost of repairs being $1.2 million. The city says the repairs will be funded through water capital reserve funding.
On July 17, a significant break was discovered in the primary Trenton Water Service water main located under the Trent River beside the D.J. MacDonald Bridge in Trenton.
Temporary repair clamps were installed on July 18 and on July 25 by Cobourg Development Services.
The temporary solution will remain in place until the permanent solution is fully installed.
