The City of Belleville has announced Mark Shannon as new Deputy Fire Chief.
Shannon had been the acting Deputy Fire Chief since August before accepting the permanent role.
The new Deputy Fire Chief brings over 30 years of firefighting experience.
Before joining Belleville Fire as a career firefighter, Shannon was a volunteer firefighter in Tyendinaga Township.
In 2019, Shannon was promoted to the position of Suppression Captain.
He will officially take on the role of Deputy Chief on October 2.
“On behalf of Belleville Fire & Emergency Services and the City of Belleville, I would like to welcome Mark as our newest Deputy Fire Chief,” said Director of Emergency Services and Fire Chief Dan Smith in a release.
“Mark has proven himself as a leader in our fire service since taking on the role of Acting Deputy Fire Chief and we are very pleased he has accepted this role permanently. I look forward to what the future holds for Belleville Fire & Emergency Services with our new team in place.”
