Two members of the Quinte Children’s Treatment Centre were recognized for their work with those living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
Kerri Cater and Kristine Guyuk were presented with the Values in Action Award by the Quinte Health Board of Directors on Tuesday.
According to Quinte Health, the disorder affects four per cent of the Canadian population.
Quinte Health says Cater and Guyuk have been key contributors in building the FASD service within the Children’s Treatment Centre.
The recognition comes on National Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Awareness Month. The national awareness symbol for the month is red shoes.
Some members of the Quinte Health Board of Directors were seen wearing red shoes as part of Tuesday’s meeting.
