Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health and The Ontario Nurses’ Association returned to the bargaining table Thursday morning to negotiate an end to the nurses’ strike, which began on August 21, but did not make any progress towards ending the strike.
Ontario Nurses’ Association said in a press statement that the talks lasted only minutes before parties left the bargaining table with no agreement and no end to the strike in sight.
Fifty nurses remain on strike across the public health organization, with a possible additional strike looming by Canadian Union of Public Employee members working for Hastings Prince Edward Public Health, which includes support staff, dietitians, health inspectors, and other workers.
The workers represented by CUPE could strike as early as Friday, joining the nurses on the picket line.
