As the Belleville Senators prepare for their 7th season in the American Hockey League they will reach back to a staple of Belleville Bulls games for many years, namely the cowbell.
The B-Sens announced initial plans for their home opener against the Laval Rocket on Saturday October 21 at the CAA Arena (formerly the Yardmen Arena) including a FanFest beginning at 4 p.m.
Every fan in attendance that night will receive a cowbell courtesy of CAA.
The cowbell was a mainstay of Belleville Bulls games for many years and became a theme during playoffs.
It’s an attempt to connect with fans of the former OHL team that was unexpectedly sold and relocated to Hamilton in 2015.
Until last season the Belleville Senators rarely acknowledged the Bulls’ 36-year existence in this city which led to a disconnect with many fans. That changed last season as the B-Sens held a Bulls alumni night which drew a large crowd, many wearing Bulls sweaters.
The festivities will begin at 4 p.m. with a special red carpet entrance, where fans will be able to meet and receive autographs from their favourite players as they arrive.
There will also be an opportunity to take part in family-friendly activities in the Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre gymnasium with carnival games, a magic show, face painting, a balloon artist and much more.
Once again, the CAA member lounge will be open throughout the event, for an exclusive player meet-and-greet and autograph session in the courtyard from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
In addition, CAA will be providing a complimentary hot dog and beverage to the first 300 CAA Members in the gym. Also, make sure to bring your CAA membership card to be eligible for exclusive member benefits during fanfest and the game.
