Prince Edward County Council has expanded the format of an upcoming information session for the water and wastewater capital project planned for the Wellington area.
During Tuesday’s council meeting, councillors voted to change the format of the public meeting to a forum with staff and experts presenting project details, before opening the floor to a question and answer session with the public.
The change in the meeting plan comes after a deputation by a Wellington resident, Dorothy Bothwell, who highlighted concerns that Wellington area residents had with the existing plans.
Dorothy’s deputation listed several concerns she and local residents shared, primarily about the cost of the project and if those costs would get passed on to residents through their water bills.
These concerns were also listed on a petition submitted to council, which received 640 signatures by Wellington area residents.
The meeting’s date remained unchanged, as August 31.
