Cobourg Police report a second suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting at West Beach.
One suspect remains at large.
During the August 16 incident, police say gunshots were fired at the south end of Hibernia Street near a homeless encampment.
There were no reported injuries.
Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., 18-year-old Alearen Stewart, of Ajax, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Point firearm
- Discharge firearm with intent
- Attempted murder using firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- Possession of loaded firearm
- Possession of prohibited firearm
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
Stewart was held for a bail hearing.
Last week, 19-year-old Kersi Buakasa of the Durham Region was arrested at his home and charged on a half dozen counts including attempted murder.
Police continue to look for a third suspect.
Twenty-one-year-old Elijah Kerridge-Lall is described as male, 5’8” tall and 130lbs.
Kerridge-Lall is on a current court release for attempted murder charges involving a firearm and was supposed to be on a house arrest condition but was not at his residence when police executed the search warrant.
He is known to frequent the GTA and the Northumberland County area.
Cobourg Police say Kerridge-Lall should be considered armed and if located, they say do not approach, but call 911 immediately.
