Belleville taxpayers won’t be paying for costs associated with its staff working on plan approvals for a $1.54 billion housing/resort project proposed for the Black Bear Ridge Golf Course property.
At Monday’s meeting, council approved a cost recovery agreement with the developers. Director of Engineering and Development Services Stephen Ashton reassured council his staff will continue working on projects other than Black Bear.
“This cost recovery agreement will allow us to hire additional outside consultants whom the developer will pay for but they will still work on behalf of the city.”
Black Bear developers propose to build over 3,000 permanent residential units, along with hotels, spas, and assorted recreational facilities.
