Cobourg police are investigating reports of gun shots at a reported homeless encampment Wednesday afternoon.
Police, including officers from the Criminal Investigation Bureau responded to the south end of Hibernia Street around 4:45 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
Police say there is not believed to be any threat to public safety.
Northumberland Today reports that people in the area believe the incident to be drug related.
