The grand opening for a new McDonald’s location in Belleville took place on Wednesday.
The new restaurant is located on the corner of Wallbridge-Loyalist Road and Bell Boulevard.
“It’s been absolutely outstanding, really enjoy the team here,” owner & operator Todd Shea tells Quinte News.
“It’s nice to open the new restaurant after you buy right so it’s been really a dream of mine to continue to grow the McDonald’s brand. Love everything about this facility and what they’ve done, the modernization of it and the team running it. It’s gonna be a great, great location for us.”
Shea is taking over all Belleville and Madoc locations after previous owner Bob Doyle announced he was retiring.
Shea says he is happy to see that the work Doyle started on the Wallbridge-Loyalist Road location has finally come to fruition.
“This is a growing part of the community on the west end. I think the plan has been in place for about five years before we actually got a shovel in the ground here to try to get a site out here. So it’s nice to finally get the site going out here,” Shea said.
Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis was among those in attendance.
He says that talking with Shea gives him confidence that he will do well in the community.
“(Todd Shea) talked about our community and how friendly it was in his speech and he’s always liked Belleville and now he has a store here,” Ellis tells Quinte News.
“Meeting him today, it’s like I’ve known him most of my life. That’s the type of personality he has.”
The grand opening of the new restaurant also comes on Hospital Day, where 50 cents from every coffee and $1 from every Big Mac and McChicken purchased at Belleville McDonald’s locations goes to the Belleville General Hospital Foundation.
