The value of planned construction in Belleville was a little lower last month than in July of 2022.
Last month 70 building permits were issued for a construction value of $29.7 million.
In July of last year 91 permits were issued by the city with a value of $36.8 million.
The biggest projects getting permits last month were for an addition at Loyalist College worth $16 million, one for an apartment building at 660 Sidney Street (Geertsma Homes) for $4.8 million, and a $1.7 million permit for an addition to the Salvation Army Citadel on Bridge Street West.
Seven permits were issued for new residential construction last month compared to 22 in July of 2022.
For the first seven months of this year, permits worth $112 million have been issued. In the same period last year permits valued at $137 million had been issued.
