Motor Vehicle Collision – Impaired Driving
On August 2, 2023, at 4:28 p.m., Belleville police were called to the area of Bay Bridge Road regarding a vehicle towing a trailer that was all over the road and had just struck another vehicle. Police attended and located the involved vehicles. Following an investigation, police arrested 59-year-old Stephen Barnett of Sunderland for impaired driving. Barnett was transported to the Belleville Police Service and later released on an undertaking charged with impaired driving and over 80. Barnett has a court date in August 2023.
Public Intoxication
On August 2, 2023, at 7:28 p.m., Belleville police were contacted by concerned citizens and requested to attend the area of Farley Avenue regarding a male who was causing issues on the side of the road. Police attended and spoke to the male. The male was found to be intoxicated and he became physically aggressive with officers. The 40-year-old Tweed resident was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He was transported to the Belleville Police Service and released when sober.
