Volunteers working at the Second Time Around Shop in downtown Picton were recognized Tuesday by Quinte Health’s Board of Directors with the Values in Action Award.
The Second Time Around Shop has been operating for 50 years as part of the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary team and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in support of the hospital.
The shop, located next to Tim Hortons, offers a wide variety of gently used merchandise, from small appliances, to furniture, jewellery and clothing.
And recently the volunteers set up a “comfort closet” at the hospital to supply clothing for patients in need.
