The City of Belleville has sold two pieces of land in the North East Industrial Park.
The sales were approved at Monday’s meeting of council.
Vision Transportation has purchased a 25-acre parcel of land on College Street East.
It is not the company’s first investment in Belleville as it currently controls almost one million square feet of space in the industrial park.
Vision is currently working to secure an investment that will include at least 250,000 square feet of new industrial space resulting in the addition of 50 to 100 new employees in the city.
We are so pleased that Vision has continued to see the value in investing in Belleville,” says Mayor Neil Ellis. “The relationship we have built with them over the years continues to benefit both the community and the company and we couldn’t be more pleased to sell them another parcel of land to be developed.”
“The group at Vision continues to invest in Belleville and Belleville continues to support our plans for the future of warehousing and logistics,“ says Tony D’Attoma, President of Vision Transportation. “We currently employ more than 100 incredible staff in Belleville and we look forward to adding to that number as our latest investment gets underway.”
Construction is expected to start in 2024 at the latest.
Meanwhile, 18.6 acres of land on University Avenue have been sold to Highfield Investment Group.
Highfield will develop a 375,000-square-foot distribution centre building to be operated by Mikhaiel Logistics on behalf of Rolf C. Hagen Inc.
Hagen is the world’s largest privately-owned, multi-national pet products manufacturer and distributor.
The facility is expected to employ more than 75 full time staff.
San Mikhaiel says, “The new facility will expand our capabilities in Belleville and will provide enhanced operational efficiencies and cost savings to Hagen as we serve markets between Montreal and Toronto. The city has been excellent to work with and we look forward to continuing to be a valued member of the Belleville community.”
“The city acquired this land a number of years ago to make sure we had a selection of industrial lots that would suit a variety of needs,” says Mayor Neil Ellis. “We are so pleased this parcel worked perfectly for Highfield and we look forward to supporting them as they grow their business here.”
