A proposal for an apartment building in a Tweed hamlet is making its way through the planning stages.
Hastings County director of planning Justin Harrow told the Planning and Development Committee on Tuesday it is proposed to be a 24-unit building.
He says the servicing for water and sewer are the big issues.
“It will probably depend on site specific issues whatever development we’re looking at. It may or may not come up as part of that. Keep in mind with this one as well, historically there was a fairly large apartment building on that property before. So some of that factors into how we look at it as well.”
Warden Bob Jenkins asked, “Because it’s within a hamlet does that give it special significance or could this type of thing happen outside of the hamlet?”
Harrow answered, “Certainly because it’s in a hamlet designation we can certainly look at a little bit more development Certainly outside the hamlet I don’t say it wouldn’t happen but far less likely to happen.”
