A man has pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated assault on his parents.
It was alleged that Bradley Carey was at his parents’ home on Heartwood Drive in Belleville on June 25, 2022.
When Carey’s father returned back inside the home to call police on his son, the father found Carey assaulting his mother.
When the father tried to intervene, it’s alleged that Carey then proceeded to assault his father.
A scuffle ensued, where the mother tried to hit Carey over the head with a hair dryer, in which Carey proceeded to take the device and choke his father with the cord.
When police arrived, the father’s face was turning purple.
Bradley Carey was sentenced to six years in jail and with credit for time served he will serve 4 years, 311 days.
Carey was also sentenced to a lifetime weapons prohibition, DNA databanking order and no communication with his mother while in custody or on parole without her written revocable consent.
The father has since passed away, unrelated to the incident.
