A report to a Hastings County committee on Wednesday shows that warming centres in Belleville and Bancroft were busy throughout the winter months.
The Belleville Warming Centre operated for 107 nights. 300 individuals attended, 78 of them were onetime visitors and therefore the city actually had 222 unique Warming Centre guests.
Of these 149 were males, 72 females and 1 person who identified as other.
The breakdown of guests at the Belleville location were three regular guests who attended more then 50 pr cent of program nights.
Of the three identified groups, on average 46 guests attended per night, and of these 30 were male.
Of the 46 guests, 65 per cent or 30 guests stayed overnight.
The remainder (16) did not stay for the entire night.
The Bancroft Warming Centre operated for 73 nights.
Sixty-one individuals attended, 15 of those were onetime visitors.
There were 26 males and 20 females.
The Quinte West Warming Centre operated for 107 nights with 79 individuals attending.
The report indicated staff have prepared an in-depth 2022-2023 Warming Centre Report to provide in-depth financials and usage data.
Additionally, the report provides observations for the community, stakeholders, Community and Human Services Committee and local councils.
As indicated in the Warming Centre final report, Community and Human Services will work with municipalities in the service area to identify warming centre options for the 2023-2024 season, with recommendations brought back to Committee and Council.
