Quinte & District Association of Realtors says they saw sizable gains with 22% more homes sold in May than were sold in May of last year.
Four hundred and seventy-two homes were sold in May, sales were 13.1% above the five-year average and 11.4% above the 10-year average.
Despite the strong sales in May, home sales are still down overall compared to this time last year, with only 1,392 homes sold so far this year, a nearly 20% drop compared to last year’s numbers.
Homes are also selling for less in the area, the average price of homes sold was 6% less this May than it was a year ago. Single family homes sold for 15% less and townhouses sold for 12% less compared to last May.
The total value of all homes sold in May was $300 million, up nearly 15% compared to the previous year.
