A man who was under house arrest faces charges of drug trafficking.
The Lennox and Addington County Community Street Crime Unit had been investigating the male after he was suspected of breaching his conditions.
On Thursday, police say they spotted the man breaching his conditions where he is alleged to have been walking down the street and talking on his cell phone.
CSCU members arrested the man. A search led to police seizing approximately 23 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 27 grams of suspected crack cocaine, two cell phones, digital scales and cash.
Fifty-year-old Terry Merlin of Greater Napanee was charged with the following:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court – three counts
The accused was released from custody after being held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee at a later date.
