Changes are coming for Macaulay Village Heritage Park.
A delegation by Eleanor Zichy, Jennifer Hunter, and Jerri-Lynn Ostroskie from Prince Edward Learning Centre spoke to Prince Edward County council during their meeting on Tuesday about plans to revitalize the space.
Plans are already in place to replace the old play structures for children and revitalize the space. During community consultations about the plans, it was also discovered that area residents didn’t think there was enough shade in the park, and that a shade structure would be useful.
PELC asked council for approval to construct the shade structure as part of the park renovations. Prince Edward Learning Centre plans to fundraise to buy materials and use volunteer labour to build the structure.
Council approved of the project, and entered into a partnership with PELC to have the shade structure constructed.
